Life's Promise

Life's Promise

A Poem by Stephanie Hawkes
"

A poem encapsulating the tempestuous seasons of life and acceptance.

"

In a perfect world we would all be born to live life young and leave life old

In a world far from perfect we are all born to leave life young and live life old

Not one day that we are here on this earth has been promised to you

                                     Death affects only those living

Only those who are left behind

The loss of a loved life is the loss of a life loved

Death has a face, worn by those lost but left living,

Living a life imprisoned in an aching heart

Death is a given to all things living

 It is what it is

You can’t fight what was never in your control

Live your life as if it was soon to be taken from you

Live only for today

 Yesterday is forever gone

And tomorrow is nothing but an unopened gift

If the known of your fate plays on your mind

Basically, I do not require a critique of the syntax, grammar and minutiae of the poem. How does it make you feel? What is it's emotional centre? General feed back of how you as an audience responded to the poem.
