DOING TIME ON THE WRITERS BLOCK

a poem about the influences of having writers block

Doing time on the writers block  Headaches only scalp the physical description or skim the surface my fingers map-out and in the blank lines connecting doubt desperation dead ends  dry  out  in hieroglyphic rain     Between you and that line the potentials  your mood swings    balancing the evidence you mistake for madness at face value, like the elbow shadows on the desk that riddle was formed before light was even discovered      hands god given in the word maze  clocking pain   each verb struggles an estimate that either makes or breaks day   and as it swings that tacky beat you us your heart moves closer to eternity’s bosom    the fate brain rapes against tree skin reminds you of the stone-coma epitaphs    never written    Inside the pendulum locks in a witness  clotting victims tracking  the  nostalgia, racing blood forgets now and then     against those bone odds writing begins mind crime stationary   it's scary exposed like that, line conned by the pros outliving you  the soul geology  your effort, instinctual  as the desire it takes to be remembered    but to see angels envy us at that very  moment   the spikes free of extending consequences   the universe  opens creativity winging the sacrifice our heads make below   leaving   dreams of cliffs on edges  setting      the cannons held the relics lust mix     timing        trimming echoes off a passing age   a soul geometry   never to see us coming but hear our words returning to live again

. hmmm ... if this is what you write when you're doin' time ... i wonder what happens when you're not ... i shall find out ... meanwhile ... here's a thought ... if achievement and experience were mutually exclusive ... and they are ... though we don't think so usually ... then this would be a magnum opus ... an epic ... comprehensive and inviting ...

Great beat, flow. I like it. This is what "writer's block" feels like. You have this brilliant piece, yet nothing looks good enough...scrap it and start again with the same results. (not saying that this isn't good - just that it's our perception of our own work that's a little messed up sometimes.)

oh this is great!!! the word plays, the vocab - the styling and structure - it's just so very clever - you draw us in, there's a beat here and there and we feel it reading through - a power and passion too - as the words scatter off like the little s**** they can be ha - much enjoyed! you have a refreshing voice on here! nice!

the artist is never satisfied but the creator continues to create - some pieces are stillborn while some gestate and grow peacefully - i haven't forced myself to write; it would take away the love and fun of it but when we fully commit i guess this is what happens....nice to read you.

And what I must do is tell you is that I am swooning over your descriptive flow of a common and plaguing problem. Whenever someone has a piece on writer's block, I rush toward it see what their imagination produces when they feel it is lacking. And my God, what a gem I found today.
