No Holiday for Death

No Holiday for Death

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

anger and some hate,

colors and names not explained

then shootings and death

your colors are wrong

it's their street you're on tonight

then death comes easy

bullets and bombs yes

with no name inscribed take life

that die needlessly

parents and children

holding each other tightly

hiding together

death does come easy

and with very little sound

that can't be explained.

no more struggling

family embraces now

they feel no more pain

Oh I loved this! Death is always a captivating subject, something we all have to face regardless of who we are or worship or how much money we happen to make- there is truly 'No Holiday' from death.

Wilard,

This scene could be anywhere at anytime on this earth. Tragic anytime but so true in the words. I know people have thought what could we do about the senseless acts of taking lives? Is it the times we live in? Is it just the way it is? So many questions and not enough answers.

Life is cheap now - is it cheaper than before? I wonder ... if we always (as a species) were able to make life so cheap as to easily extinguish it.
Sad to contemplate but sadder to admit that this scenario is regular and very real Will - well penned my friend.

I know this theme all too well teaching in an area that once was highly affected by gang groups. Well done writing about this ugly part of our society. :D

You are playing in my yard now, Will! I've been playing this game of life and death of/for no foreseeable reasons for a long time. There is always a lot of collateral damage just in the name of illegal business dealings. Life only seems to have meaning for the good guys.

Too much going on these days and it's heartbreaking. Stray bullets meant for gang members killing innocent children, someone getting stabbed because they looked at someone the wrong way. Wtf?
It's horrible.
