Closing In the Dark

Cold and Dark and mental walks, but I am really doing fine.

As the seasons change
the cold setting in,
I smile accepting
the time of change.

But at this time
I feel the darkness
within my mind,
it seems to be closing in.

Fighting off the dark
that wants to be creeping in,
I reach for light
to avoid the dark.

Still I stay the course,
to keep myself right here,
writing these words.
And near the light.

Writing poetry is a great way of keeping darkness at bay. Therapeutic in so many ways, especially when you feel the darkness creeping in. Writing your thoughts keeps you near the light. Nicely written...Keep writing.

Today here in Michigan. Darkness at 6pm.
"Fighting off the dark
that wants to be creeping in,
I reach for light
to avoid the dark."

I lived in Alaska for a number of years and I started learning there about light therapy. For those with heavy depression in the winter it can help. Some schools and prisons are installing lights to help those with light issue and there are many that do have it. But thank for visiting my words and commenting. Greatly appreciated as always.

I understand. I did my NCO training for the Army in Washington state. I went Fort Lewis in March. I saw the sun one day in 90 days. Alaska would be very hard. Cold and darkness. I found a Jack London's book "To built a fire." His description of Alaska showed the hard life.

And the best my friend is to step out and let the rays of the sunshine bring joy to your heart and if it rains and storms, bundle up and take in the liquid sunshine. It's only water after all.

Well to be honest I am fine. I know this place, but just stroll by on the edge just enough to write about it. The dark seems to have a special draw. Also I find it a very fun thing to do.
