Sleepless In Love

Sleepless nights

A night of sleep

is short, but not abnormal,

as my mind starts to race,

with a body still seeking sleep.

Darkness is around

as the walls,

the ceiling and all,

their nothingness not inviting.

In one more effort

to find the comfort

and peace that I seek,

for a few more minutes of sleep.

Then in the bed,

just heat of her body,

brings some peace.

Then a touch of my hand.

Knowing she's near,

tranquility descends

on my mind

as I find peace, I find sleep.

Well as good as it sounds the sleep did not really come as this work started running in my head. So up way before dawn (again) and off to the racing as my poem says.
