I had spent years searching for you,
Years tearing my life apart
And cleaning it back up,
Hoping in the process
I’d find you hidden away
In some corner,
Or perhaps under the bed,
But no matter how hard I looked
I could not find you.
It was not until I finally met you,
In a place so distant
From that which I once called home,
That I finally realized
That you had always been with me,
Not hidden in some corner,
Nor under the bed,
But right with me
Somewhere within me,
Somewhere deep
In my once aching heart.
