The Pauper Laments ...

The Pauper Laments ...

A Poem by Roy
"

All that glitters causes unrest ...

"

"Penniless thou art, and penniless doth thou return!"
Not what the Almighty spake unto Adam, I assure,
But then Heaven never had any monetary issues.
No altercations, no haggling,
No fumes of despair, no tears.

"War against terror!", echo
The voices of the Indian glitteratti,
Who know no more of the masses
Than Marie Antoinette knew hers.

Ask the pauper, and you'll know better.

Fight poverty, my paper heroes
If you want no anarchy,
For Peace never walks with an empty stomach.
And morality and hunger are indeed
Strange bedfellows.

Round many a bend on the walk of life
You'll find a parrot mimic some aeon-old philosopher:
"Money is secondary, morality is première."
Be warned.
They lie through their teeth
As opulently
As they lie with Promiscuity.

Ask the pauper, and you'll know better.

If there ever is a God for the famished
He would surely have the form of coinage,
Or of the soiled paper that ensures
Their flames waver on but for one night more.

You may dream of an Eden on Earth,

Free from arms, free from the blood

Of the hapless population

Which lives a forgettable life,

And suffers a regrettable demise.

But if you, on either side of the barrier of sorrow

That estranges you from your kin,

Desire to see the white dove once again, for real,

Then -

Bring a smile to the face of the mothers,

Save their children who fight hunger,

And those that 'martyr' themselves

'In the name of religion'

So that their own back home

May be delivered from the vicious cycle of poverty.

Ask the pauper, and you'll know better.

Exceptional piece.

"Bring a smile to the face of the mothers,
Save their children who fight hunger,
And those that 'martyr' themselves
'In the name of religion'
So that their own back home
May be delivered from the vicious cycle of poverty."

Don't just give them a fish but teach them how to fish. Yes, without help -- the necessary skills, resources... hope... suffering is doomed to repeat itself, and has. The many ills of mankind... peace vs. war... pure politics. Greed, money, oil, power. Meanwhile millions suffer, millions die and millions follow. Hopelessness ensues and becomes expectation.

Change a life. Just one... and you've broken one chain. If more stepped out of self for a minute to do so, we might see world conditions shift. I pray we do.

Wow, incredible work, the flow captures the meaning outstanding, the conditions of suffering, war and peace bring the entire synopsis into conclusion. drawn for reason's sake. Bravo
