Swelling

Swelling

A Poem by yellowsparrow

my head and everything
down to my toes
are heavy and warm.
its much too hot tonight
and my eyes won't keep open
and the breeze doesn't exist around here
hasn't come around for hours
and all I can do is lay limp in the darkness
fire!
my head's on fire
all I want to do is sleep
I'll rely on the heat to sweat me
into slumber
while the humidity stings my pours
even dreams keep away on fire-hot nights
no where in sight to steal your mind
away for the magic hour
so your mind is left to dance with the heat tonight
until morning cools you down.
