Firecracker Girl

Firecracker Girl

A Poem by Céce

She’s like a Chinese paper lantern,

glowing up the night;

like a bunch of lilac flowers,

purple, velvet, bright.

She’s like a thousand colors all in one,

tornado-earthquake-thunderstorm.

She trails incense on her fingers,

leaves flowers in her bed,

sleeps without pajamas on,

makes up stories in her head.

One moment she’s the air you breathe,

the next she takes your breath away,

she makes you blush, turns you pale,

runs here, runs there, yet always stays.

She makes these starbursts in your world

that you’ve never seen before.

She’s a firecracker girl.

"One moment she’s the air you breathe,
the next she takes your breath away"

I have a line insanely close to this one in a poem in my recently published book 'Into The Never'. It's something different when someone can make you feel this way. I like this poem. I love the imagery and your word usage.

I found some really great lines in this one:

One moment she’s the air you breathe,
the next she takes your breath away,
she makes you blush, turns you pale,
runs here, runs there, yet always stays

Wow.. now these words are incredibly lyrical .. loved the abstract feel of description.. keep it up!

this is a beautiful poem that is vividly described. The flow isn't as smooth as it could be but it is still a wonderful poem.

"She’s like a thousand colors all in one,"
I love this line, it's soo colorful and just great. "She’s like a thousand colors all in one,"
This is very metaphoric it could mean that she has all the great qualities that a guy could ever want in a woman.

"One moment she’s the air you breathe,
the next she takes your breath away,
she makes you blush, turns you pale,
runs here, runs there, yet always stays."
This stanza is great, so much is said there, the metaphor in this stanza is stunning.

Her being compared with the air can be looked at in so many different ways. The air is significant, something that we can’t live without. She’s the air he breathes but at the same time she has the ability to take his breath away, which could mean she’s unpredictable and full of wonderful surprises.
“She runs here, runs there, yet always stays.” This could mean that her presence is always felt even when she’s not there physically, in his mind she’s always around, or everywhere he goes a picture of her is always seen.

This poem is awesome!!! :D
