Forgive me

Forgive me

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Just words

"
                          Forgive me

You are so far away from me and  I wish to see you.
The day seem longer and sadder.
The sun seem less warm and bright.
I didn't know you were my gentleness and hope in this wild ride.

Please forgive me for what I did to you.
I was young and foolish, learning the many ways to love.
I made the lover's mistake, not appreciating the gift of kiss and embrace.

I hope I didn't leave you with regret and negative thoughts of us.
You are a fond memory I cannot forget.
In the midnight hours. I whispered a wish for your soft hands tangling with my hands.
Kissing those tender and sweet lips till sleep stole our passion away.

I know our ending was filled with sadness and I wish your new beginnings are filled with
happiness and joy.

I learn too late. Ain't no sunshine when you are gone.

Wow, that hit hard. Very evocative and powerful, really stirs the feelings of unrequited love, and the enveloping sense of regret that comes over everyone at some point. I also noticed some Bill Withers came out in the last line there which was a nice touch. Great read!

Thank you for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
You did a great job describing the story of regret that I'm sure many have suffered at one point or another - nicely done with the beautiful song to enhance it :)

lovely words... how often we miss the moments that go by, realizing that we wont be able to cherish them again. I wish you get that sunshine again. Good one!!!

Thank you Anurag. I appreciate the comment.
I really love this poem! It's nicely filled with humble confessions, without going super gushy & self-deprecating. Just simple & honest regrets, but most of all, focusing on lingering feelings of love. Very nice balance of highs & lows. You have a way of hitting a nerve in your reader, illustrating a detail so well, it resonates. Such as in this line: "I didn't know you were my gentleness and hope in this wild ride." Thanks for sharing.
