Seconds Within Your Light

Coming through the night I feel strange seconds

within a familiar light.

Here is where my imagination led me to think

no one heard my plight.

Still I smiled in wonder, though the darkness

seemed stronger every second.

Because I yearned to hear your words,

know my life was in your presence.

I bade farewell to the night , closed my eyes

let those seconds pass right by.

As that familiar light that came inside,

kept your face within my sight.

There's a moment between wakefulness and sleep, sometimes quite magical, other times almost scary. Maybe, just maybe this is that moment where reality is about to be chased away for a while, when the dormant spiritual is beckoning. The dreams of men belong to God it is said...unless one tends to follow Freud and think everything is about sex. Personally I think Freud was a cocaine addicted genius with an overactive imagination and libido. The work Jung did on dreams and his development of archetypes is very interesting in its parallel to Aboriginal thinking. The aboriginals believe the world was created in Dream Time and that the world is connected by and lives are formed of songlines. I adore those thoughts. I like the idea that my life is a verse within the universe. This is very lovely.
