Empty rooms in empty halls.

Accounts silent - long abandoned

the words bankrupt

vacant fronts of creativity 

washed over; hollow; run down.

Verbs sway on rusted hinges

the strains of old poems

cross pages like tumbleweeds.

Profiles shuttered - desolate

unopened for years, collect dust

while messages to forgotten friends

go unanswered

like wanted posters

I still visit the profiles of old friends here, some that I know seldom if ever, revisit the site. Others are departed from life itself. I revisit their comments on my posts on other sites as well. I'll find one and say, well, wasn't that nice? This is eloquently poignant. I enjoyed and I relate. F.

I tend to come and go a lot, as you know.
I think this place for some is just a brief stop and for others a place to come back to when we need to unload. There are so few that are constant and it's reassuring that they are here when we come back.
These online communities are tough to navigate at times and people get attached to other people so their vacancy is missed. Frieda for example. I still hear about how she is missed because she was such a huge presence here.

I tried writing to her once to no avail. I too am here and gone often. It's good to know there's a place you can spill your guts if one chooses to do so. :)

Oh man guilty as charged - I was uninspired for years so there has been major dust collecting in my profile - life pulls us in so many directions it’s hard to keep up sometimes (plus I have a short attention span and seek other ways of expressing myself) siggghhhh!

The despondency in this piece hurts, T. And the truth of it even more so. I don't know why I came here today . . . have been reading old msgs from 12 yrs ago[!] -- working backwards, checking on any long-time friends still around. Thank you for not deleting me. Your words still grace the page with emotions that yank my heart with their startling insight. This is exactly how it feels to come here sometimes. Thanks so much J. I'm glad to see you visit. I deleted over ten writers from my friends list recently. All closed their accounts. I left yours on in case. :) The site is going through an empty phase. Lets hope it rejuvenates itself soon.
