Walking Targets

Walking Targets

A Poem by Karina Longo
"

I'm afraid every war beings with a deep deep mental struggle of you against yourself

"

There's moviment everywhere,

Retoric life - cannonballs blowing faster than thoughts,

War bleeding in Vietnam or in your brain -

World War III lives inside you and me,

Being a soldier without a choice

Life makes you keep it shut when you should have a voice

Rifles can kill me - ideas too,

Weirdness's growing too fast

I don't know what's coming next

Battlefield's inside my body

Take a deep breathe even though all is exploding,

Hear the beat of a heartless heart

No one knows how did it start

But madness doesn't have an end

You die, battle's lost - madness raises 'n' stand

I really don't know how wars start but sometimes I think of them as a way to thin the hordes of people we have on this earth. Wars will always be and we will always be in conflict with someone over something. I like how you explored the internal battle as well as the external then showed how they are connected. Well done.

I was part of a team putting out the Iraq water source fires in 1992-1993. Man's abuse on poor nature was terrible. Worst part the oil spill in the gulf was 100 times more terrible. All the diesel is at the bottom of the water choking the poor animal life to a terrible death. Your words told a sad story. War had no winners. Just nature and the innocent in the way of war are the real losers. A excellent poem. Thank you.

The struggle for humanity divides the soul.
This is driving force behind the search for truth.

Thanks guys. I remember writing this poem at a little piece of paper at this hotel in Cardiff. I'm glad it's appreciated. :)
