my skin remembers

my skin remembers

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

it's friday night!

"

my skin remembers

the electrified intimacy

soft as velvet yet wielding an unrivaled intensity

yesterday was blurry

tomorrow was a naked page

and that day, well, that day was a flower blooming

a peach ripening to its juicy best

yes, my skin remembers

it’s true…. from this standpoint of long ago

and so very far away

                even behind my foster grants

the memory continues to electrify

Woah! If feelings are ravishing and passionate, words bring them out alive and prime, and as refreshing as they ever were.

Thanks for finding this one and reviewing, Roxane. Lydi
Indeed as we grow older the vitality, the essence of life in physical form escapes us but we still relish and long for such intimacy Lydi. Well penned.

If we would stop and think, all of us would have the sense of skin remembering. Especially the touch and when there were no wrinkles. [smiling] Valentine

Thank you, my friend. I appreciate you. Lydi**
skin does remember Lydia...It remembers the time before menopause , those moments before chemo, how it was when it was first touched. The skin right below your chin that extends to your collar bone, remembers what a warm lovers kiss was like, then craves for the rest of life for that feeling again......and again. It recalls the tears, then gives off goose bumps when anything gorgeous trumpets the memory.

What a fabulous concept my friend....and what a great poem....dana

Dana, I always love your reviews....you so "get me". Thank you very much. Lydi**
Beautiful, and yes, the skin remembers. What a unique way to phrase it! I love this line: tomorrow was a naked page.

You have a delightful way of looking at things and putting it in writing. Your personality peeks through every word and yet, the words are more than tongue-in-cheek humor. They speak to something much deeper. More intimate. More painful than one might grasp at first-read. Nicely done.

Oh so true. The skin remembers and so does every thought that is hidden in the vault of memory.
Very passionate and very intense
