ADRIFT

ADRIFT

A Poem by Mira
"

Give me the beat and free my soul, I wanna get lost in the melted snow and drift away.

"
I am laying in the bed all alone

thinking about why am I here,

In spite of doing so much

the people around me hardly care.

The room is dark and quiet

with time getting cold,

I so wish, so badly wish

for someone to hold.

The stupid tears are coming back

almost every other day,

Reminding me of the pain, my horrible past

why the hell it doesn’t go away.

The tears makes me aware

that the little girl is gone forever,

She won’t be coming back

not now or ever.

The people stabbed her

back with the knives,

Cut after cut

they took her life.

That naive little girl

couldn’t differentiate between friend and foe,

Her soul melted into the thin air

just like the snow.

-Thats wonderful how one writer inspires the other to do their best job, writing.
This poem is so emotional, hindering the heart with those painful words. Yet beautiful and amazing how you have depicted a story within.

I like the reference to ‘Drift Away’ lyrics originally written by American songwriter and producer Mentor Williams (1946-2016); a playlist classic preformed by Dobie Gray (1973). It certainly is a contrast to the poetic descriptive harshness of the composition you have created. The subject matter is compassionate and flows gracefully from start to finish. Well written my friend …

Amazing and powerful thoughts shared in the poetry.
"Cut after cut
they took her life.
That naive little girl
couldn’t differentiate between friend and foe"
The above lines were so much. Allowed the reader to feel the thoughts and her emotions. Thank you Mira for sharing the excellent poetry.
