21 of March world Poetry Day

A day for poetry to celebrate and to shine,
To extol marvels of poems, poetry lovers day under the sun

What would we do without poetry?
If we can't put in words, all the world of emotions we deal,
And the flood of sentiments that we handle:
The world will be a show case of silent canvases,
For want of words voice of singers will be mute,
Thank God for poetry!
where words take a life of their own
stand, and creat poets in return!

For a poet every day is a poetry day!
He plouges through the life to collect and compose his ware,
Gathering all the perfect phrases is full day's affair,
A poet inhales and exhales without a lifejaket,
After drowning in ebb of emotions.
It is an exercise of mind and heart
A mutual love affair with the muse.

To express emotions and let the reader feel them in a new light
isn't an easy task,
From Bard to billions of poets to count have covered a multitude
Of matters,
Leaving the style of a poet as his last asset.
To paint the world in a brand new mode,
To suite the changing tide,
And keep the poetry flowing is all a poet dares to dream!

This is a true wonder of a poem. I think you have expressed what all of us want to say, but won't. I've been reading poetry since I was very young and now being in my forties I find it is still no easier to write than it was back then. I read Manning, Berry, Auden, Yeats, and many others and still feel there is more to do, more to write, and that we can still contribute. Keep on, Mrudula. CD

I've never read poetry until two years ago, starting with friends on this website, but still haven't read much from the poetic masters. I never dreamed writing poetry could be so addictive. I need to write a poem every few days or I'm all seized up with anxiety! *smile* My favorite -- 1st line of 3nd stanza (I love the entire stanza) - "every day is poetry day!" Your point of view is always so practical, even when you're waxing poetic! I love the way you state things creatively yet still being straightforward & always very relatable!
