Shelter

Happy talking to stray cats, tiny birds I feed.
Safaris and sanctuaries I don't visit.
Shooting pictures of the wild never appealed,
I calm crying dogs, still my heartaches persist.
Meek creatures that roam city streets for their need
fill me with emotional storms, can't resist.
Give home to an animal that needs shelter,
With its love it will make your life lot better.

I love your restless wandering poem. I volunteered at two different shelters for 6 years & so I'm very aware of the animals that are not well-cared-for. You describe your stray animal experiences with a ton of originality, even tho every scene is familiar. In my younger days, I was a borderline animal hoarder, as I could not resist adopting a homeless stray. I am always getting into tight spots trying to look after animals I have no space for, first my family complains, but every one slowly come around and give help .it is impossible to see an animal being neglected or starving. It takes compassionate hearts to find shelters for animals or adopt ones. They deserve decent lives and care. I have two beautiful dogs and ten cats outside the house and they do bring joy and make the place alive with many things.
