My God has not one name

My God has not one name

A Poem by Mrudula Rani
"

You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself- swami Vivekananda

"
My God has not one but sobriquets a million,
answers to all and every one of the appellation.
My God hests no proof of liveries of my troth,
For my liturgy cantillates all its strength.

God queries no sacrifices or luxurious donation,
Divvying certitude appeases God I reckon...
For I know by the joy that brims my heart at alength,
when I extend a hand to any living in dearth.

My God yens no wars in the name of persuasion.
For he bestowed us ardor, an extraordinary possession,
to discern and resolve our differences,
Only with comity construe reverence.

My God pledges no glories of afterlife temptations.
For life is terse to waste on hebetated anticipations,
Faith you follow is mightier than the others' is a self-deception.
and to prove warring does demise and destruction.

I accredit we can do right by God without contention,
for God is love, hope and an infinite inspiration.
God is here and now, God is within us; the goodness.
God is eternal fulgor in many forms and naams to infer esse.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mrudula.... Language may not be your God but it is God given to you! If in a state of meditation I should crawl out of my body and float into the air I should like very much to occupy your pen for a while to watch those word weavings unfold! The liturgy of you is absolutely wonderful and one of which I wholeheartedly agree. Blessed be your heart as is evidenced in your art in these words not sure i could write of this subject as well as you did. I loved this

An eloquent and intelligent piece as you argue that within us is the 'spirit' that has the godly qualities we attribute to abstract figments of folklore and legend. Indeed I not only enjoyed this flowing and passionate verse but agree wholeheartedly that we must be 'godly' in our ways to find true meaning and lasting happiness on earth.

What an encouraging message, Mrudula. I'm not sure how I missed this poem before, but I'm glad it popped up on my sidebar yesterday. I imagine you as a gentle, patient soul in the world outside of WC. And, your poem confirms that for me.

I think some of us use poetry to hide or to work out the depths of things or to escape. And some of us employ poetry as a means of spreading our grace and beauty to the world. Maybe that's not a conscious decision, but a consequence of what we choose to put out there for others to contemplate. This poem cements my feeling that you are the grace and beauty brand of poet.

If we could see each other in the terms set out in your poem and attempt to live our lives as such, the world would be a better place. Thanks for sharing your vision with us, Mrudula.

You’re welcome, Mrudula. A wonderful weekend to you.
So full of depth and life, reflections of our world, of God's presence, of all that is sacred within us and around us. "You are incarnations of God, all of you. You are incarnations of the Almighty, Omnipresent, Divine Principle." (Swami Vivekananda) Que seu novo dia seja cheio de alegria e amor, minha querido. Um grande abraço.

Thank you for your very kind words.
Always think if you can walk with your God it's not a bad thing.
We all need light in our lives and a purpose to get through what life throws at us.
Just wish the loonies would stop using religion for their own warped purposes.

We believe in OUR God none of us can see, feel him (perhaps God is a she - would it matter?)
Yet we believe and honour OUR God

Still all OUR Gods have the same rules for us to follow

Are the all the same person under the name and language we choose to use for him

Funny there may be one God but we have too many religions to make it work coupled by the fac5 that some people on Earth like to play God. A most interesting write to ponder on and the what if’s.
