Less Than Perfect

Less Than Perfect

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Less than Perfect

She apologized to him

for years that had taken their toll.

For auburn hair that had lost its luster,

and delicate features

that were less than perfect.

He apologized to her

for the guise of gray that clearly shown.

For hands now trembling

at the mere anticipation

of bodies merging,

of lips pressing hard.

After years of being denied

their passion was consummately fed

Slow and methodical,

heeding no apologies.

Thank you, Poppy...much love, my friend!
You have been missed love, and this was a nice surprise ... simply one of your best, and definitely my fav. The depth of emotion resonates throughout, leaving me with a feeling of nostalgia. In imperfection lies true beauty; sort of a "Notebook" or "Longest Ride" feel to this piece. Imperfection intensifies love, understanding, 100/100

Some things simply defy perfection (even description), because they supersede it, as do You and this enthralling tale of passion and emotion-filled, beautiful tenderness, and affectionate sensuality that was always meant to be, and ultimately came to fruition.
It is not so much the story (for me) as it is the depth of understanding and caring with which you've so adroitly blended your colors and textures into brilliantly visual hues, that virtually envelope my poetic mind inside of yours, to grasp fully the gloriousness of its essence.
How could one even begin to imagine that such a bountiful lifetime's reaping needs an apology; yet, so preciously treasured that they humbly, sweetly, unashamedly did to one another, with complete honesty that added to the already brimming reserves of pure love.
God, Kelly, I love that picture — it speaks volumes … after absorbing the nuance of your poem.

I fervently agree, Matt...thank you so much for stopping by!
Without romance--we are all lost. In passion, you and I know that we truly are "comsummately fed"

ah....always getting you------never having you :-(
I guess true love is a friendship that can't be broken. It's difficult nowadays to find a soulmate. Why? Is it because we are too demanding, never happy with what we have. I don't know. I'm happy to have found mine 35 years ago, and I hope that we can still enjoy many years together. Thank you, Kelly, for sharing these romantic words. Very well done. :) Rudi
