Analogy of a book

How much

like a book

we are

with an introduction

a beginning

and a climax

with a spine

and a voice

that speaks

metaphorically

we are

statistically categorized

by numbers

and names

all our lives

immensely filled

with chapters

and hours

and time

ever fleeting

with knowledge

and journeys

and joys

far exceeding

the price

we pay

The analogy is unique, and so uncannily spot on.

Just as well though, I suppose, that we can't sneak a peek at the how and when of our last page. Be a bit like a best friend who has already read the book, spilling the beans on the ending. :))

I enjoy scrolling the back pages from time to time, and am so glad I found this.

Beccy.

I was lucky this one turned out the way it did. You flatter me so, Cassie. Thank you again!
A very effective way to see the world I think. I only hope that people reading the book that is my life think it worthwhile in the end and don't tell everyone that the ending was a little weak and obtuse...lol. Lovely writing and a great concept. I stamp this one Crowley approved!!

Now that's the stamp of approval I need! Many thanks, Crowley!
And some of us are old and cracked and some of us smell of new paper. This is gorgeous.

I love the analogy and how cleverly you wrapped up a life between the hardcovers of a book. Wonderful indeed!

Thank you, Chase.
How much like a book is so true, but, we ink-stained wretches get to throw our words into the world for others to love or hate such as the case may be.
This one I like a good deal.

A good write.

I appreciate that, Ted...thank you!
Splendid analogy and metaphor my friend...our lives truly are living books in all the ways your poem so uniquely and eloquently describes. Lovely minimalist artwork and form with a profound philosophical message within. It’s a pleasure to read your beautiful book dear Kelly! :))
