Stormer

Stormer

A Story by Kathryn Smith

There is a constant

Storm

Brewing

In my blood

And there is fire

Burning

Crackling

In my soul

A hurricane

Whipping through

 My eyes

I didn't battle for my life

Only to walked all over

To be treated

Poorly

By people

Who were friends

To me

I've had enough

Of being silent

Not standing up

For myself

If you

walk

All over me

I will

stomp

All over you

And if you speak hatred of me

I'll speak kindly of you

For fire and fire

Cannot and does not

Win

I might be small

but oh am I mighty

And I will no longer

Tolerate

Your bullying

Your teasing

Your mother

Trashing me

Her eyes are so full

Of a loathing

With just one look

I can make you

Cower

And with my words

I have the ability

To kill

But the greatest thing

I will do

Is to ignore

The stinging words

And walk

On

With

A smile

And a heart

Full of peace

I am the daughter of Jay

And I straighten my crown

I know who I am

And I am

Strong

Strong and proud words from your woman’s heart in this poem Kathryn. Powerful establishment of persona- “ I am the daughter of Jay.” Would want every young woman to feel this confident. It would end the kind of abuse of women so prevalent in society. Brava to you for taking your stand!

So sadly angry and defiant and full of spunk Kathryn. You write out a rant and paint a picture of a Boadicea of a woman rising up with sword and shield, breast plate thrusting at her enemies!

This is a very powerful poem... and i so know the feeling of walking away when faced with such situation..the more you engage the more worse the situation becomes... but sometimes i guess we need to stand up for us..for our pride... or else people just take you for granted...

i liked this line and many others....
felt all your pride in this one ...
I am the daughter of Jay

read like i will take no nonsense :)

thank you for sharing it with us.
