Chocolate Covered Comfort

Chocolate Covered Comfort

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Comfort food?????????????

Chocolate Covered Comfort

A tasty majestic creation

Coming in many forms

Dark and milk plus white

Considered to be the norm

Bitter, sweet or flavoured

Chucky, powdered or smooth

I’m in love with every one

And that’s the ‘gospel truth’

Pumpkin spice my favourite

Envelopes of truffle heaven

Found this chocolate delicacy

Deep in the heart of Devon

With no limit to concoctions

From herbs to toasted bars

Existing in all size and shapes

Including some bonbon stars

So whenever the proverbial

Sometimes hits my life’s fan

I indulge in choc binge comfort

My surreptitious yummy plan

Yummmm. Our chocolatier made pumpkin spice truffles where I use to work and they were delightful. My favorite! There really are so many different combinations and flavors. This is enjoyable to read and really makes me crave chocolate!

This is one of my favorites of yours that I’ve read so far. As I remember, your poems are often kinda short. But this one is longer & that’s why I like it so much. Your wit & playful storytelling deserves to be enjoyed for a longer time! *smile* Good job on rhyme & rhythm, but mostly the imaginative details that don’t fall into the gutter of cliché (not easy when writing about something so universally worshipped). The proverbial fan is stated deliciously subtle *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

I'm not particularly fond of certain chocolaty flavours out there, but I'm always down for a good bar of "dark, milk, or white" (mmmmmm). That right there is "the gospel truth"! (lol) Much enjoyed this poem! Nicely crafted! "chucky" I believe is meaning to say "chuNky" (with an 'n'), but this is quite the concoction you've written about it! That last stanza really puts over the top! Well done!

I only eat dark chocolate cos scientific research shows that it's good for one.. Pity my nose grows by the day,, dont think there's cure for ir, either. As ever a fine poem put together with apparent verve and bite.
'Surreptitious yummy plan' - finishing with a tasty linguistic flourish too.

Chocolates are my weakness. Not a guilty pleasure if I don't feel guilty about eating them! I feel like I could already smell and taste chocolates by reading your wonderful poem. Good job!
