Shall I call it Journey?

Shall I call it Journey?

A Poem by Raja
"

Go...

"

Shall I call it Journey?
Past
Sound, camera, action!
Replay of what I did I saw in minute’s profusion
In seducing arcade
And I stop seeing now –
Glories, happiness, success, setbacks, dictates,
Cries, screams, rivalry, love, and…

I stop but in a moment’s desire rewind to see
Mistakes on my part

So that I can make up today
And tomorrow, and
Day after tomorrow, and the very day ahead of the day
After tomorrow
And…

Just pack up, please!
I don’t want to see any more!!

Achiever’s Story
Ground floor!
Staircase and me…
I’m climbing
First floor!
Staircase and he
He’s climbing, too, with me

Second floor!
Staircase and she
She’s climbing
So do we – he and I

Third floor!
Staircase and us
We’re climbing competing with each other
Floor after floor after floor after…

Why staircase? Why not a distance?
Okay, let it be then distance…

Before I start,
I thought I had no guts
Before I fly
I believed I could never fly
Before I swim
I feared I had no fins
And, before I try
I figured the mountain was so high!
Why distance? Why not something else?
Okay, let’s just let the fate decide
Just look ahead and never turn around for what
I did and I didn’t
As time starts –

I mean, just walk…

I think are whole lives are filled with different emotional journey's to overcome. Some of them the "staircases" are too high to climb or at least they seem to be or maybe it's just something someone told us. I don't know every intricate detail of this emotion that you are trying to portray, but I felt compelled to read on and walk in my mind with your literary foot steps. Well done!

I love the way you write, especially in these two poems which compliment each other somehow... rather a start and a continuation of a journey.. or at least thought.

You've created some wonderful phrases ... 'I stop but in a moment's desire rewind to seeMistakes on my part' ...... 'Before I start, I thought I had no guts Before I flyI believed I could never fly Before I swimI feared I had no fins' ...... 'Just look ahead and never turn around for whatI did and I didn't As time starts ' .... and that last phrase is a perfect finish. Or is it a beginning?

Wonderful!

There is such a flow of thoughts and feelings expressed here, moving around us and through us. Simply loved the words: "Before I flyI believed I could never fly... Before I swim I feared I had no fins.." Just jumped out at me. Thank you for sharing this poignant, powerful work!

i didn't find these two pieces to be separate at all, only tail ends of the same two headed beast. I felt the narrative voice wavering from piece to piece in a fantastic dramatic fashion, in such a way that I felt that I knew her/him. well done, Raja, thanks for this.

I liked both of these poems. They are separate pieces. yes? One seems to make the metaphor of life as a film production and the other; a metaphor of life as a climb up a neverending staircase then changing direction in mid flow. What I like most about these pieces is just that shift; that feeling of spontanaity in the writing itself. I feel that is what the creative process for writing poetry should be, unchoreographed in its movements, free to explore vast new possibilities. After all, one does not choreograph a love affair. Simply a joy to read.
