Alone from here on in

Alone from here on in

A Poem by Rhine Wolf
"

Going through a period when there was so many deaths around me, it inspired me to look at death from the point of one who caused or feels responsible for the demise of another. This gave me the opportunity to experiment a bit and I came up with the i

"

In the darkness alone I dwell
Am I lost? Have I found hell?
I see you lying there so still, so beautiful
The noon light shimmers off your delicate face

The closer I move the further you are from my reach
I start to hasten, I start to quicken my pace
No matter how I struggle, I can not cover the breach
I feel trapped, unable to move, can’t run from this place

I need to hold you, feel the warmth of embrace
Slowly I feel the pull, the calling of my name
The noon light fades, closing the invisible case
All I have left is my internal shame

“Clear!! I feel the pull again
“We have a pulse” they are calling my name
“We lost the other” for ever my shame
“He’s stabilizing” alone from here on in.

I've only read two of your pieces thus far, & this is also my favorite! I love the ethereal, dreamlike state you've painted.

The first stanza (to me) has you dwelling in darkness as you drift off to sleep.

The second stanza is the dream & reminds me of the many hours spent running and chasing and falling, while dreaming.

The third stanza is almost as if you just awoke from this dream, to a sad reality & one to your own shame. Hah! it was all just a dream!

The forth stanza sets you on your way to face this new day, alone & stabilizing - from here on in.

I've probably read to much into this, but that's par for the course with me! (smiles)

My mind's eye can truly liken this piece unto a dreamlike scenario.

Excellent writing...
