A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Life's bill of fare...

"

Breakfast

went down so easily,

a spoon-fed treat

we did not appreciate

Lunch

was do-it-yourself,

grab and go ~

didn’t care what we didn’t know

Dinner

was most filling,

hearty in choices

and candlelight

Now,

a nightcap,

a snifter of solitude

to ease into goodnight

Funny how dinner is where it's at...where we unwind, take our time, and actually enjoy what we eat. Cute poem :)

Indeed! Thank you, Kristin!
I think your free verse is wonderful...I sense a journey here that goes far beyond a menu...the nightcap I especially relate to...lots of food for thought here, and I promise the pun is unintended, but it works haha

You're most welcome :)
I enjoyed the form of this free verse poem. The more a menu becomes a ceremony, the more delightful it is. I'm reminded of a Japanese tea ceremony with all its mystical and social content in conjunction with tea and food. Some people munch their food down so fast that they forget to taste it, notice the atmosphere surrounding it, or give thanks to the pretty cook who spends her afternoon preparing it to perfection for those whom she loves.

Exactly! Glad you enjoyed this menu, Angel!
At which restaurant might I find this fabulous menu? This was nice Rita, sound very familiar to me. (he says cleaning the spoon after eating his pre-packaged yogurt).

At our own personal diner, I suppose... And yogurt does go down easy! :) thanks!
i really like the metaphor here...i see much more than just meals...

i see parts of life...and in the end...we want to ease into the goodnight...maybe that last little snack...like a bucket list item taken care of.

you are a smart writer, Teach!
