Rain

Rain

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

It started raining pennies,

then nickels joined the pour;

dimes descended from the clouds

and quarters hit the floor

The coins, they knocked unconscious
the folks who stormed outside,
clutching pots and pitchers
all full of selfish pride

And when the sun came out again,
the coins evaporated
before those greedy souls could fill
their vessels up to sated

So, content we'll have to be
with simple water rains;
they sparkle just as readily
and humble Nature gains

Hello. I posted a few poems on this site years ago and have now returned. At the time, you were were one who "friended" me.
I enjoyed this poem for both the imagery of raining coins and the message, but also because you rhymed and metered it, something I do with all of my poems. I just posted my first poem and am not yet familiar with Rating and Points, so I hope the rating I gave is not offensive. Richard (richom)

I like the rhythm of your poetry. And this is a nice bit of tricksy fairy magic as well. It reminds me of that old movie "Darby O'Gill and the Little People"; the way the leprechauns tricked people who were just plain old greedy.

Lovely poem, I like both the message and the rhythm when reading it and it reminds me of how much I like the bloom of nature after a lot of rain :)

I recieved a strong visual from this piece! It's almost like seeing something out of a short film. And--as always--beautiful rhyme scheme, too. :)
