A LOVE SUPREME

A LOVE SUPREME

A Poem by Shabeeh Haider

The stars bow down and kiss the ground,

They line the grass where lovers lie,

And flowers that bloomed on this Earth,

Fill vacant slots up in the sky.

The angels spread their golden wings,

And take them in a sweet embrace.

The gentle waves lap at the shore,

The planets swoon in outer space.

The moment where the sun meets moon,

As Cupids arrow meets its mark,

All time comes to a grinding halt,

Between the best of Light and Dark.

The moans of lust, the groans of love,

Are music of this timeless song.

Apollo plays his magic harp,

As all in Heaven dance along.

The time comes for that final roar,

The mighty waves hit at the shore.

For all is calm now, all is peace,

Love goes to sleep, it wants not more.

The temperature in the room went up as I read this, very passionate and moving. You did a great job of expressing the emotional and spirituality involved in this relationship and the title is perfect, well done my friend. Five out of five Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

Very nice! Lots of vivid imagery in here, and I like how many of the ideas - planets/stars, angels and deities, and waves - are recurring throughout the poem. It both adds a sense of continuity and emphasizes the changes in emotional intensity. Each line of this piece is lovely, but I especially like the first stanza. The stars and flowers exchanging places is a beautiful, unique image, and it reminds me of the self-sacrificing nature of love: giving of oneself and receiving from the other person in return. A lovely piece overall. Excellent work!

Cobblestone, thank you
This is a very powerful piece of poem. The selection of words is pretty excellent. References to Apollo and Cupid adorn the poem further. A pretty well penned poem carrying significantly profound emotions entwined with imagery. This poem is unique in its style and the setting. Keep writing.

Thank you for your kind words, Vatsal
This was very romantic with wonderful imagery in the heavens above :) I really liked the idea of the stars and flowers trading places but I would have liked you to reference the stars further into the poem again - it felt like they were left behind lol - ok maybe I'm just being silly. It was a beautiful poem and a pleasure to read :)

If you read the last line, he fell asleep before he could send the stars back. (:
ultimate love here....not only the significant other who is feeling it, the entire universe, all of nature is feeling it...cheering for it.

Thank you for your words, Jacob
Breathtaking romance in this write, Shabeeh. I especially enjoyed the celestial references. The waves crashing at the shore....their noise competing with the lovers there. Elegantly sensual. One of your best. Lydi**
