Don't Judge A Writer

Don't Judge A Writer

A Poem by Sonakshi Arora
"

Writers are some scary people... :p

"
Don't judge a writer in any way
Not by their voice or perhaps their looks
They are more than your opinions
They are the entire library of books

They have a massive working brain
That works more than you've done in your life
And ask me about their racing ideas
They're sharper than the sharpest knife.

You may talk about their dark circles
But those eyes have something else to say
Their success speaks for them
While you waste your whole life away

And if you could do a deeper analysis
You'll know they are the real fighters
I'll bet you won't say a word against them
Because you'll understand the worth of writers

You may speak about their silence
But they observe each and every thing
And you'll realise that they were actually noticing
When you pick up any of their writings

You may think they're introverted
Or that they're very very lonely
But I'll tell you the truth of life
Writing isn't everyone's cup of tea.

They may be sitting fully comatose
But deep inside their mind speaks
You may find all of this a little creepy
You may call them observant freaks!

They may be pathetic orators
But their words can make your eyes bleed
You'll understand what I'm talking about
The exact moment you'll start to read

Writers aren't a beauty for sure
And they're not their soft and shiny skin
They're dark and deep souls
That have a story, a poetry within

The thing about writers is that
Each one of them has a story to tell
Try interfering or criticising them for it
And you may end up with a spell!

So here's my suggestion to you
Since writers are capable of ruining your day
If you want to stay safe and sound
Don't judge a writer in any way!

This is a fun a powerful read that speaks true to many writers (heck, I'll even say all, since it is indeed safe to say all are represented in this poem). My only constructive criticism is that your musicality doesn't flow quite well, particularly around stanza 4, and then it comes back for a bit only to be lost again. I can't tell whether it was because of the want to rhyme well or simply from lack of other ways to word the line, but at times it gets a tad wordy, and rhymes are not hitting with the bang they often have, and the musicality more importantly is flowing with a clunky pace of sorts. If you read it aloud to yourself, you'll be able to detect where the lines can be pruned to help the musicality. Well done otherwise. Love the message.

I'm honestly speechless for a moment. That was, amazing, in every way. It spoke so much truth, in a way that was pleasant to read and understand. I even teared up a little, because it was honestly that great. Thank you, for writing this. I'll be sure to share it later, because my company computer has most social medias blocked.
Thank you, again, for the read.
