A Poem by Tony Jordan

Keep it alive

As long as love lives
There will be hope - and know this
Love will never die

It might be said that love is an overused word; 'love the look of that dress,' 'love chocolate,' etc, etc.

But that is perhaps not to understand love for what it is; rather than simply a word to describe something that is quite impossible to quantify.

Love must indeed never die, it cannot, for without it, our species would cease to exist.

Beccy.

I am usually wayyy more verbose.
I appreciate your encouraging words PL

Tony, I like the way that you put it in this poem. Very short, crisp, to the point but loving too. Of course, hope will never die either, as long as it depends on love for it's existence.

BTW, I like your onion smile :) Thanks for reviewing my poem "Black Gossamer & Legs".

'Black Gossamer & Legs' is a fantastic read.
Thank you Lady Glitter
:)
have you ever seen a mule Tony? My grandpa use to have a few on the farm he sharecropped in Georgia a few decades ago...They were crossbred to be patient and un-bothered by snakes and mud. Granddad use to tell me that they pulled the plow, walked thru the muddy fields and trampled snakes because they loved it. Perhaps we humans are born with this same congenital truth; that we are here to both love and hope out loud. And that that truth about us will never die......beautiful song to wake up to my friend.....dana

Hope and love seem to walk the aisle together.. or elsewhere.. if we're fortunate, lucky or call it what you will. Brief, sweetly worded poem..

Eternal pardners in the mortal hoedown ...
Thanks (always) Em.
:)
I've lived--for years--both decidedly loveless and seemingly faithless.
But, without hope, the next breath was always in doubt.
While love never dies, our connection to it is sometimes temporarily lost.
Excellent bit of work, Tony!
