Choices and Butterflies

Choices and Butterflies

A Poem by Alisa Js

it  was a magical space we found and hung
around,
each day along the path at half past five,
beside the second tree on the right hand side
high anticipation returned
and life was as it was,
we were brand new again
life was restored.

butterflies danced
while the leaves hummed a quiet song
once again, we had purpose
once again, we were infused with strength
and could not fail
we would not fail

time and life prepared us for this day
together, we would win this race
fly past those treacherous souls
who thought otherwise
we would show them
we would win

how could I have known
your view of me
hadn't changed
after all this time
our roads were one and done,
years ago.

and I?
a inconvenient afterthought....

I like the rhyming in the first two lines of the first stanza. I like the poem itself overall but I appreciate the structure and lack of punctuation of the poem. The staggered line lengths, the lack of capital letters, commas, and periods, all make the poem unique and make the story its telling more meaningful. I also like the "..." at the end of the last line, it leaves the reader thinking about their own personal experiences.

Thank you, Breanna for your kind words and thoughts. I will be by soon.

After all this time you would think at the very least they would at last appreciate our tenacity :D

Well done.

You write like me, mechanically speaking.

As any good narcissist would say; excellent work, but you better not get better than me or I'll kidnap all of your pets and sell them to the circus.
