Smiles of Mary

Smiles of Mary

A Poem by Jake Mancini
"

A story.

"

I saw her in the garden,
the moon shone off her face
oh, Mary,  whose face so pale,
her glance then stole my heart.

Oh Mary, oh Mary
how I've come to love,
your face like the Irish spring.
With eyes like fire,
and a heart of gold
you gave that heart to me.

But though she gave me her heart
she had another love
one so vast, and so deep,
she gave her heart to the sea.

Oh Mary, oh Mary
I see your pain,
you wear it on your sleeve
but is it not enough
the love i give to thee?

She left me then,
to dwell alone
among the rolling hills.
Though it be broken,
I need it not,
that heart I gave to thee.

I see her face in the river,
a reflection of lost memories
of a girl who was my lover
she gave herself to the sea.

"your face like the Irish spring.

Love, love, love.

You're much better at writing then you say you are.
This is really special.
