For all those searching for a purpose in the world (me included). Don't stop searching until you find one.

Earthrise

I never could once ascertain

The reason why I still remain.

Retrace every mistake I've made

And you'll see a man so mundane.

Above, I watch pulsars parade,

Beneath, I see outflows of jade,

And I'm caught in between,

Unsure as to why I breathe and bleed.

But I bestill the beast begotten in my mind,

By this umbra in my heart,

From the treetops of tomorrow, with the Earthrise

Of the quests I've yet to start.

(I will search on).

Nothing burns quite like those smoldering shadows

That our souls self-bestow

Upon themselves as they grow.

(I will search on).

What the macrocosm holds for me, I don't know,

But until my pulse slows

And senescence starts to show,

(Should I search on?).

I'll deface the doubts that are eclipsing my mind,

And dip their tenebrous hearts

In this noctilucent and nebulous midnight

To be reborn as sunsparks,

(I will march on).

So they can provide the light I need to find

Some resolve to remind

Myself to stubbornly strive.

(I will march on).

We're often blind to our roles in humankind.

We lie, until we die,

To ourselves, and purge our pride.

(Should I march on?).

Help us to revive

The self-respect that we let flatline.

Help us to survive

This aphelion we brave inside.

I'll keep searching on

For a purpose on my horizon.

I'll keep marching on

Through the emptiness of the eons.

For all of you who are struggling to find a purpose in life.  It is out there, somewhere.  If it doesn't come to you, then just go out there and chase after it.  Even if you claim you never found it when you're on your deathbed, at least your last thoughts could be with the satisfaction that you never stopped searching.

Bestill - to cause to be still, calm

Begotten - past participle of beget (to give rise to; bring about)

Umbra - shadow or darkness, dark areas on the Earth or caused by eclipses

Tenebrous - dark, shadowy, or obscure

Noctilucent - night shining.  Refers to a weather phenomenon

Macrocosm - another term for Universe

Senescence - condition or process of deterioration with age

Aphelion - the furthest point from a planet's parent star that the planet can be in its orbit

Author's Note

Hello again, everybody. I honestly didn't even see the inspiration to write this piece coming this time around. I've been so busy, that I seriously thought I wasn't going to have time to write anything for a while, but then this happened. That being said, I still decided to challenge myself with this piece...in the exact opposite way than I usually do. I already know I can write a poem with fantastical, bizarre words any day of the week, but this time, I wanted to limit myself (mostly) to words that are fairly common in terms of use (without sacrificing too much creativity and complexity). How do you think I did? Personally, I'm pretty happy with this piece. As usual, tell me what you think, and don't be afraid of being honest! Until next time! :)

We must all search on because that's what life is. Even when we're happy, eventually, we'll still be looking for something again. The hard part is getting over the doubt that clouds our vision. I find that the hardest part myself.

for me, This one is much better than the ones I read from You before, maybe because I'm not a fan of big words, complexity... etc, but aside of this all, Your poem is wonderful, the clarity of it flows nicely and smoothly into our heads, Your first verse specially was so amazing, and again Your title just great and get my attention, I do think many confused and lost teens will find comfort and courage in Your song here, well done!

Thanks, Light. I hope that anybody who is feeling lost in this world, not just teens, will find some courage and comfort in this. I can understand not being a big fan of those more "wordy" piece I write, and that's why I write in multiple styles. That widens the demographic for my work, while still allowing me to write some things that are just pure pleasure more than anything else. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. :)

my dear friend there are those who surely like and prefer Your "wordy" style, each one of us have a different taste, besides my English is not so fulent that's another reason why I find difficulty reading some pieces :)

of course anyone will find comfort here, I mentioned teens because they are the most susceptible to deal with it.
