Fast Food

Fast Food

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

inspired by a poem by Yira Simone

"

In a world of modern conviences

It seems love has become that too,

So many treating it like fast food.

Someone comes along

And devours your heart

Like a juicy burger

And naws on your soul

Like some salty French fries.

Then throws you aside

Like the wrapper they came in.

Somehow you end up being the one

Who feels weighed down

By all the fat and grease

From their eat and run attitude

And your health suffers

Feeling one step closer to

A heart attack.

The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
Ok this came about when i was reviewing Yira Simones poem last night which you should also check it out

Exit Wounds

I mentioned in the review how some people treat love like fast food... i thought that was an interesting topic but didn't really start writing it until Yira commented saying I should write a poem on the topic, enen threatened me with physical violence by twisting my arm and since i didn't want my arm broken I decided to write it and this was the result.

This is humorous but also sad, when you really get to thinking about it, because I have so often thought along this same track, of how our world is becoming a disposable world. Nothing is made to keep anymore. If the tv breaks, time was you took it in for repairs, now you just toss it and buy another. There aren't even any tv repairmen or fix it shops left that I know of. Everything and I mean everything is becoming disposable and artificial. even body parts. They are growing them. I saw a mouse on tv running around his cage with a human ear growing on his back.
This is really a great poem Dale. Fabulous.
Love it , it's going to my favs.

Smart lady :)
Love the comparisons, gives me the urge to sit down and slowly enjoy a nice steak dinner. :)

raw! the fast and cheap definitely seems convenient and appealing because it seems easy but the quality runs us down in the long run ~ well done ~ bravo....

FF is a brilliant breaded fun fest that shows how love devours our fast love nation ...Love is messy but shouldn't weigh us down with grease & chub ... Loved your juicy sense of humor along with a slight chance of ephemeral mortality ... Good job, RNRC

So true and so sad...I love the comparison between that awful food we all end up eating from time to time and relationships. Great idea. :)

Dale there is such truth in this description of 'throw away" love. I was brought up that when you are in a committed relationship, you do whatever it takes Together!
It is sad that people don't realize what the power that love can accomplish. Thanks for writing this piece that is so relevant in this world at this time. ~ Jude :-)

I had to come back. I have a challenge for you. Write it the way it should be. If you had it within your power, what would it look like.

Looking forward.

You should always listen to that small still voice that brings about work like this. . . It's good stuff. Solid work.

The words you speak are sad but true we live in such a fast-lane world, no time for

real, true romance and candle light dinners for two

I think those were the bygone times of yesteryear,

a now forgotten romantic era~when life was real and not rushed

Great WritE!! Dale~

Your last line says it all...that kind of love is destructive. I loved how you realistically relayed the effects of fast food. It is good, but lord is it hard on the body!!!! I think you masterfully and bluntly related the theme of love overrated, as well as love taken for granted. See...all I had to do is put the fear of God in you and you come up with a great piece...you think I can make a living doing this? LOL Thank you for notifying me, I am glad that you got this out of your system and posted this piece. Now...what else can I "persuade" you to write about? LOL Very good work!-Catrina
