The Dancer

The Dancer

A Poem by CircusNerd

The dim shudder, like falling grains of sand

A generating crescendo - the clapping of hands

Last forever among ample screams

Roaring outcries - covered in dreams

Diminished away to trickling streams

An immaculate silence; personified death

The music then starts - you hold your breath

The lights glow bright

Not a soul in sight

They're enveloped in a grand, blue shrouded night

Put on a smile, only then will it stay

Don't show your fear, tuck that away

Raise up your eyes

Towards the skies

Cut off the straggling ends to these ties

Close your mind, just 5 minutes left

Stand your ground; just face your theft

Your arms and your feet

They sway with the beat

Forcing the crowd to the edge of their seat

Pick up the pace; the climax is here

Hold your heart tight; it might disappear

Lost on the stage

A captive book's page

Forevermore held from this day and this age

The act then abruptly comes to an end

Now your soul you're left to amend

Leave the rest be

Another far-off memory

Gone forever in your dreams

I love "a captive book's page." I can see the book and I can see the dancer. The flow of this poem FEELS like it's dancing. Well done!

I love this poem. There is a great feeling that comes from being on stage
that everyone should experience just once.
