butterfly eyes

butterfly eyes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

butterfly eyes

small pane

slender frame

                           of reference

           she remembers them all

a widow still clinging to the memory of

her woeful wasteland of lovers---

heavy dust on the glass

he wants to wipe away the soiled past

Windex her dreams,

but she turns from the window

draws the shade

returns to the cocoon

she went back to

after the last entomologist

clipped her wings.

Sometimes it is impossible to forget the past and to trust again. Ah, if only Windex could erase some memories. Great metaphor of the clipped wings on the butterfly. lydi**

dear Jacob... I love the way the entomologist clipped her wings... I
Have had "my wings clipped" by more than one doctor. My dear Mother raised parakeets when I was a child. She "clipped" the wings of the older family parakeets just enough so they could still fly, but not too fast or too far. It was a delicate clipping. truly, Pat

So far your poems are very powerful, and I find myself relating where I have a hard time relating to most poetry. I'd give you stars here but we don't have stars... so how about a full rating? =^-^=

"returns to the cocoon
she went back to
after the last entomologist
clipped her wings."

This is so powerful. Its a way of life for some to live cocooned, wings clipped. They won't have it any other way. They thrive on pain.

Jacob this is stunning
The comparison you draw out here
i could see her turn her head away

for some
there is a past that has died
but weighs down the mind
to trust or not to trust again

you can see it all in the eyes

beautiful !!

pale moth eyes flight in distress, such a beautiful girl in a dress. and there she went off again by fault of man. Yes this is poetically scripted with such softness, and in her cocoon she can find the light that really shines from within, FIREFLY

The beauty of this sadness rest in a poet's pen who sees through his window the lives of many who lost life's friend.

Al
