Fireworks and Flowers

Fireworks and Flowers

A Poem by Crowley
"

for a prompt

"

He sat down and started writing, he knew, people, he saw, people
He wrote people like John Kennedy played a crowd, intuitively, passionately
There was no method to it, it was natural and laced with dark reality
The kind of reality tipped with truth and tragedy, all angles, all consuming
Each person a complex maze of paradoxes based in desire and fear, hard to chew
But when a thousand of his characters filled the pages, glistening like dew on the dandelions
The portrait painted was as solid as the keystone in a castles hearth, it was breathtaking
The people were flowers and fireworks on the waning of a soft summer day, he knew people

I see people as organic evolutions in the collective experience of there existences very much like you express in these lines Crowley:) the flowers inevitable variations that occur over time bloom changes to a splendorous variety. I hope someday to have that ability to capture people so well good sir very reflective write!

You got some great lines in this piece, C. "like John Kennedy played a crowd . . . " Great 4th line . . . 7th line . . . 8th line . . . well, the whole poem actually!! You are so right . . . gotta know people. You gotta like people . . . I think it begins with ourselves. When you stop to think about it, it's amazing how many differing personalities have come (and will come) into the world . . . filling it with a myriad of stories and adventures. Every story, no matter how sad it can be at times, is worthy of our attention. How often do we pass up the opportunity to hear a new story because we were too caught up in our own! C, this piece is deceptively subtle and grows on one as they ponder what you are saying here. I like that about your work. Is it the dry air of Arizona that does that? My brother-in-law (who lives near Yuma in the winter) just had successful heart surgery at Phoenix's heart hospital. Glad it was there! Also glad your work is on this site.

Glad you could identify, thanks so much!!!
It's always been about the detail, the journey the reader is taken on; always will be.

'The people were flowers and fireworks on the waning of a soft summer day,
he knew people.' Just so very lovely.

Beccy.

My pleasure Crowley, Hope your well. And family is doing good. hugs. Dawn.
writers must know their characters before writing them into a story....the development...and in order to create them in the first place, he or she must understand human nature and personality enough to perceive and then accurately describe it in those he forms.
and this poem gives us a message, a reflection of how intricate and complicated even the seemingly most simple people are.
