Dripping Diamonds

Dripping Diamonds

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin

Dripping diamonds

Oh the bliss, of a campfire late at night!

Warm, welcoming; the flames glow, orange and lovely.

Dear husband built the fire, my soul basks

 amidst love’s warm light.

Our love matches ebony- night- reality.

Late and later, comes the moon, reflecting

 orb fire bright.

All around the forest glows as if cast in molten glass.

Late night trees, now drenched,

 in dripping diamonds of moonlight!

Every leaf, branch and twig of Douglas Fir Grove

Simply bestows, Luminescent Moon’s power.

It pierces through each leaf like a living lens

 capturing the magic.

Late and later; all becomes hushed.  So still!

To bask in silver bright shining is my privilege.

Dear Husband Timothy off to sleep.

This night my heart is comforted.

I rejoice in this precious time of solitude.  Such peace!

My soul inhales quiet, sweet stillness.

Last glowing embers remain and still reveal beauty.

Happy I am to sleepily sit in my place

 of sweetness and light.

Thank you Lord.

For your precious moon does rule the night.

Your beautiful words let me hear the crackle, feel the warmth and smell the woodsmoke of the campfire. Trees "drenched in dripping diamonds of moonlight"- lovely alliteration and imagery...such precious moments in time with your husband shared. Thank you so much for sharing them with us!

Superb descriptions of night dew glistening in the moonlight brought back memories of my camping days. "Togetherness" in the midst of nature becomes a new experience when away from the bustle and pressures of modern living.
Thanks Kathy - you nearly made me feel young again.:-)

Ah, man makes fire. The one good thing we're good at. This of course is to make sure you put the tent up. Make the meal. Find the sleeping bags.
Don't you just love camping. The great outdoors of love. Just be a minute love. Searching for logs. You look after Timothy now, Kathy. Enjoy the moonlight.

No nearer place to be with the Almighty, than neath a clear, moonlit night sky, surrounded by natural fauna & flora and with the one you love!

A sweetly penned, picturesque delight, wonderful imagery and endearingly atmospheric!

Kathy, this poem is vividly imaginative with an exuberance that glides through every word. Like diamonds, moonlight, and fire, this poem shines sooo brilliantly that it's sure to set any reader aglow with passion. Too, I'm impressed by the title and how it sets the perfect mood for the poem.
This poem bleeds with fiery desire, but also holds a gentle ambience in its expression. Though I had some quibbles with wording, punctuation, phrasing etc. (I'll elaborate on this more if you'd like), the "whole" of this poem truly struck me. Brilliantly penned!

I've often sat late into the evening watching the fires embers fade away. Your poem built a very vivid picture of peace and contentment. There is love there too. I enjoyed reading your poem.

Fabulous imagery here in this poem, Kathy: diamonds, glass, living lens, and more...
Nature is beautiful and you've paid her a great homage with this inspired piece. We don't get ice and snow where I live, and this almost had me wishing we had (not really...too cold, man!).
Great that you can revel in nature's beauty, even in the midst of a freeezing winter!
