Insanity

Insanity

A Poem by Kacie Delane Davis

Darkness surrounds this place

Where hatred can't escape

I feel the walls of solitude closing in

I hear my screams for help

I hug my knees tight

Like he would wrap me in his arms

As all the memories blur into one

He would wrap his arms gently around my hips

And

Ever so softly kiss my lips

I put my head between my knees

I didn't want this memory to persist

But...

Then again...

Could I really resist

Screaming amplifies

Memories intensify

He held me fast in his arms

Smiling,so loving

Warm

"I love you"

He whispered in my ear

Next thing I know...

He'd disappeared

I want to forget him

Why can't I ?

Every time I close my eyes

I see us together

Happy as can be

Oh the Irony

Insanity is certain

While he is

Locked away

Deep

Inside my heart....
