Why I can't love you back

Why I can't love you back

A Poem by Kim Jimenez
"

People now seems have a greater understanding in same sex relationship. But there are some countries still not open with those homosexual orientation. I hope someday they will understand.

"

The reason why I can’t love you back,
Isn’t because my love for you lacked,
It is just this world suck,
That in this situation we’re stuck;

I love you and the heaven knows I do,
But they said we shouldn’t push this through,
Because even God doesn’t want us to,
If this is wrong how could it feel so true?

This love I want to fight for,
Root of our families’ uproar,
I tried my best to ignore,
But fate is not in our side anymore;

I guess we should stop this now,
I know our love they’ll never allow,
But let’s make a vow,
That we'll be happy somehow;

This is our unfortunate reality,
No matter how happy we could be,
The world we live will never agree,
In this kind of homosexuality.

They said this is the right track,
A future with you in pitch black,
This is how horrid reality attack,
That is the reason why I can’t love you back.

Very interesting. I have certain opinions on this subject, though, no one should be forced to marry another person who clearly has no interest. I find that very cruel. Your words show helplessness in a society that can be often destructive. I don't have an exact opinion on whether other countries should allow this, but still, I can tell that the love is sincere. That is what matters the most. Great job!

Ah, I sort of understand this feeling; growing up in a Baptist family and community. When I had my first crush, a girl, they found out and sent me to a private Christian school for conversion therapy. I’m still a teen, under their roof and I’ve learned to put my feelings at bay... it hurts like hell. But the funny thing is, if you believe in the Bible; it doesn’t actually condemn homosexuality. That’s a mistranslation in the English one. The word in the ancient Hebrew meant pedophile but somewhere along the way, people put homosexuality as the same thing. So... food for thought? Thanks for submitting this into my contest, I really like it- and it hits home for me, as I can recall conversations eerily similar to this with my loves

This is really interesting. Even I keep wondering why some people just find it so hard to come into terms with same sex relationship. I'm still looking forward for that day when it wouldn't already be an issue, the day when love will finally prevail.

Very good poem. I like the rhythm. :) Keep writing.

Love always finds a way.
Like liquid it flows around, under and over. If it is damned - it bursts through. True love does not fear persecution. It is braver than bravery itself.
