Probably my biggest risk taken so far. My first multi-language song/poem, in French and in English. Yes, I do learn French...

Un An Sans Toi/ A Year Without You (Seasons)

(Tes yeux sont comme des bijoux, des étoiles au ciel,

Et ta voix est comme une chanson, douce comme le miel)

Watch the sun shining softly in the springtime

I remembered when we met for the first time

If only we knew that our paths would part so long

See all the flowers blooming all around me

Take it back to the time when you had found me

Yeah it was something that we had never had before

As the clouds slowly roll across the deep blue sky

A spectrum of colours opened before my very eyes

All the wonders of spring, yet I’m just so empty inside

Like the song we wrote together, before you just left

Now these words that still remain, they’re all I have left

As the darkness closes around this heart of mine

Un an sans toi

C’est une dague dans mon coeur

And now you’re so far

How I wish you were here

A year without you

Is more than I can bear

And I need you, can’t you see that I’m suffering here

To make all my pain disappear

(Tu es mon soleil dans l’été, ma lune à la nuit,

Et toi avec moi, c’est bien l’amour sans bruit)

Watch the waves crash in the summer sun

And all my feelings, they’re coming undone

Upon the cliffs, as the sea rages below

I used to feel you there in the summer heat

Now there’s nothing left, I don’t know when we’ll meet

And I’m just stranded here with nowhere left to go

Et mon automne est près, mon âme est vide,

How I wish that I was there

Like the leaves falling away from their very trees

Now I’m just so empty and bare

Red, yellow, aspen and gold fill the air

Yet to me it’s just all grey

As I watch the dark clouds pass in the breeze

And the rain begins to fall all around me

Un an sans toi

C’est une dague dans mon coeur

And now you’re so far

How I wish you were here

A year without you

Is more than I can bear

And I need you, can’t you see that I’m suffering here

To make all my pain disappear

(Douce comme la neige, tu m’appelle dans nos rêves

Tu es ma belle, ta peau, tes yeux et tes lèvres)

Now my winter is here, biting winds and snow

With all my feelings only you would know

Like a blizzard my heart’s calling out for you

It’s just bitterness, ice and gripping pain

Will I ever see the sun again?

Just know that what we had was all so true

Un an sans toi

C’est une dague dans mon coeur

And now you’re so far

How I wish you were here

A year without you

Is more than I can bear

And I need you, can’t you see that I’m suffering here

To make all my pain disappear

Undying Glory
French translation for all the themes/chorus:
Spring: Your eyes are like jewels, the stars in the sky
And your voice is like a song, sweet like honey

Chorus: A year without you
It's a dagger in my heart

Summer: You are my sun in the summer, my moon at night
And you with me, it's really silent love (literally love without noise...couldn't find anything else to rhyme with "nuit")

Autumn: And my autumn is near, my soul is empty

Winter: Soft like snow, you call me in our dreams
You are my beautiful, your skin, your eyes and your lips
Hope you like it!
Really sorry to previous reviewers, a rather important French word here was screwed up by the computer...lol. I've just corrected it...

This is beautiful! Very creative and I love the multi-language aspect of it. You write as beautifully in French is you do in English. That's a talent. Great work. Beautiful, emotional write as always.

The way you weave both English and French together to paint a picture is beautiful. I speak both languages and know how hard it can be to keep the same rhythm and tone when going back and forth, so the fact that you managed to do so (and do it so well) amazes me.

The use of the seasons throughout the poem was also a wonderful touch. I could feel the weather of every season as I read this piece. Fantastic.

It's just like all those songs back in the 80's! I kind of hate songs of today. Nothing appeals to be more than the classics. And this is just enough for me to bring back those songs.

Since I don't know much about other languages, I can only say that the English parts were splendid! But then, the refrain wasn't much appealing.. I guess it's because of the 'cliche' factor. If not for it, this would just be perfect!

PS. This also reminded me of 'One more evening' by Abdul. Go read it when you're free. And I'm glad I'm the first one to library this awesome piece of work! Keep writing.
