The Sound Of Desert Rhapsody~

The Sound Of Desert Rhapsody~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

desert roots me

runs up my thighs into my hips

feeds my belly

stallions thunder

hooves echo against canyon walls

 rattlers wink

and a road runner or two has been known

to stop

the runabout

for a heartbeat to look

at a dying woman and go

"Well it's about time wichinchala, welcome the hell home."

and a woman I no longer know laughs through my parted lips

unbuttons her blouse with my long fingers

“Oh.”

says the road runner

hops up on a joshua tree for a better look

"I don't like that."

he proclaims

dips his beak between my breasts

to pull the shiny thorn from my deadly curve

toss it high into a forever blue sky

giving me pause

the rattler

rattles his wind around my reed ankles

rubs his body up against a thigh

shedding paper skin as he goes

new scales

cool kiss

against a parchment of lavenders and blues

"This is how you do it."

he flicks his tongue against the hole in my chest

I laugh,

"But I am just a human girl with human blood."

rattler won't buy it

and road runner says

"Pft, this is the desert girl, what survives here survives everywhere"

rattler rests his old head against the butterfly on my belly

like he did decades before

in a desert near second mesa

while I tasted blood inside my mouth

now I taste only the sounds of rapture

on the end of that final tug

a string on a violin

tears itself

against a rich melody

 a stallion dips his muzzle

into my palms

my head bends against his brow

final rhapsody

in silence

Another surreal write I wish I was sure what a road runner was but the sensuous rattler was plain enough... the stallion too carried images of strength and virility with his presence and the breasts and the thighs create a wonderful melange of desert dry heat and mounting desire... I never quite understand your poems but I love their enigmatic and suggestive imagery and the sheer pleasure as the words slide down

I love the desert and this poem has turned it into a mystical place of totem animals on the cusp of life and death. An extraordinary piece.

This was so sensually freaky or was that hypnotic?

while I get back on my horse ;-)

Mystic eyes conveying the space between the real surreal. Fantastic, ecstatic, elastic imaginings beautifully portrayed in stark sensuality.

Love, loving, loved it!

A magical narrative with some fantastic surreal imagery that gives us the 'feel' of the desert.

I don't even know what to say to this one. I was entranced from the first stanza. You have a way with your images of throwing a punch the reader has never seen before. ko. This was sexy and painful. I loved it
