Thy Lips

Thy lips,

    Wet roses; milk pink.

Pillows, silks and sighs...

    sounds of a river’s dance,

soft as quiver’s cry

 

Thy lips,

    Red velvet glaz'd frosting;

nude blood moons lipstick sky,

    strawberry fields forever and ever;

scarlet pills upon this tongue of mine.

Thy lips,

    Surrender caresses; gently imparts, 

carries my heart to flutter haze.

   Gives way to dreams of delight;

time halts as thy face, I touch an' graze.

Thy lips,

    Tiffany’s priceless on display.

Greater mold’s God hath cast;

    visions to a future day,

of gems trap'd in an hourglass.

 

Thy lips,

    a kiss traverse through blush mist;

finding its way to a lover shy.

    Awaiting thy touch to soothe my heart;

like dew in morning's tinge light.

Thy lips,

    burgundy botl'd time;

messages read in fuzzy sips.

    Tickling tastes of champagne.

Monet’s masterpieces palettes.

 

Thy lips, 

    sweet honey, floral nectar,

tastes of the spring lingers in silence din.

    Blossoming flowers speak an' sway;

divine beauty capturing hearts within.

Thy lips,

    Red ribbons wrapp'd ornate;

unwrapp'd petals in austral wind.

   Oracles gauging unknown's fate,

kisses final touch serenity’s grandeur gift.

Such a marvelously gorgeous piece in all ways, Yumna and Michael.
A cowrite by two wondrously accomplished artists, no less, in a sensually romantic mood that sweeps tenderly and sweetly through the emotions of my heart.
The picture, presentation, and poetic enthrallment truly make this a virtual masterpiece of sheer allure to the senses … ummm, my own lips can almost taste the moment.

Beautiful glimpses, stroke by stroke, and sigh by sigh. There is something wholly sacred about lips, the pathway of words of love and praise, and the softness of kisses, tender and sweet. Each collaborated color is blended here in pure wonder.

My favorite aspect of this piece had to be the euphonic sounds and melodious flow within each stanza. I noticed you used the soft "l," "r," and "s" sounds a lot, which I think really helped to convey the romantic feel of the poem. I must ask, was this intentional,or did this poem just come out like that?

In my review, I was referring to how many of the same sounds are repeated in the piece. This is especially so in the last stanza ("red ribbons wrapped ornate") where you repeat the "r" sound. In other words, this piece uses a lot of alliteration.

It was't intentionally. What I wa trying to achieve was describing lips comparative to art where ever it may be and using red but trying to stay away from cliches, repetitions and the similarities overused in most poetry. YumnaKay helped to spark inspiration when I was on empty as well as come up with great ideas I would've never thought of.but, back to speaking of the alliterations, those come about as I retool a line or verse to try and get the right rhythm, syllable count and sound. It just falls into rather than intentionally trying to do it. Playing with the mechanics of phrasing and poetry is just plain fun. I'd love to take a in depth course on the subject.

Lol. So the truth is I got the idea from the show "Friends". It's true. Theres an episode were Monica is dating a guy at the restaurant where she works and he tells her "I could write a whole poem about your lips." So challenged myself to see how many romantic ways I could describe a lovers lips. And you are right it isn't all as easy as you would think.
