About Me

I joined the Cafe on April 14th, 2008.

I've always liked the slick interface of Writer's cafe, it's poetry brought to the masses indeed. There are a lot of supportive people in this community, which makes it a pretty safe place for a poet to play around. If you look hard enough, there are plenty of people who probably write like you, which is a bonus.

I try to write every day, and while I don't post on here that often, every now and then I like to encourage new writers and read the works of some of my favorites on here. I hope you find this place, as peaceful and inspirational as I do. All the best,

Krishna

Some words that would describe the schools that have influenced me the most are:

Metaphysical (e.g. John Donne)
Confessional (e.g. Plath)
Mystical (e.g. Aurobindo's Savitri)
Surrealism
Symbolism
Romantic (e.g. Shelley)
Women poets in particular (e.g. Restoration poets - Aphra Behn)

Thanks! I hope I write for a long time too. Lately I've been working on developing my short story and novel abilities... I find it easy to focus and be creative for the amount of time it takes me to write a poem; but it's a challenge to focus on something longer and more intricate, and still keep it interesting at every word. But I'm having fun and learning a lot ;)

Thank you for your kind review. The words must have meaning and logical progression for me first in preference to the rhyme but I find that rhyme comes easily to me, so I use that gift to further enhance some poems. I have written free style as well but I love a good rhyme as long as it does not sound forced. I HATE a forced, cheap sounding rhyme. Thanks for the friend request as well, look forward to reading more from you.

How come you're thinking of retiring?

Thank you very much for reading my stuff! And, thank you for your kind words. I am not as active on this site as I have been in the past, so I would join your group, but I might have a hard time keeping up to date with challenges or topics, etc...
