We Build Shells

We Build Shells

A Chapter by Abdul Batin Osman Bey
"

My first winter in Worcester

"

Snow falls feathery to the pavement

Surrendering to the heat of tires

Walking patiently across the road

Enjoying lazy Sunday afternoon

Japanese lady passes by

Stone faced with a clean umbrella

Fashionable children smiling up at the sky

I miss the company of sailors

Enter smiling into a local store

Drying while I peruse each isle

No intention do I have to purchase

People watching is something to do

Make my way back to my golden haired love

She greets me with open arms

We talk the seconds away

Enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon
