Bitten And Beaten.

Bitten And Beaten.

A Poem by A Risen Heroine.
"

^^

"

Been living among creatures of night

Bitten and beaten out of my living self

Cannot believe I felt so hard

Cannot believe I was addicted to self harm.

Didn't think,

Didn't see,

What was really happening to me.

Blinded by dark

Bitten by zombies of the day

Beaten by the monster within

Veins sliced open by the
Oh so well known glass.

Addiction became obsession

Shadows became zombies

Whispers became Screams

Cries became Silence.

A tunnel...
A long dark tunnel...

Yet there's a light at the other side...

Someone's waving at me...

It's like...
It's like that person wants me to take a step closer...

Am I walking in a wrong direction?

Or am I finally leaving?
Yet as the person waves at me...
It sends chills down my spine...

Am I ready to leave?

Or am I just too selfish...

Too selfish to see...

See what will happen next?

Threw away the so called feeling “love”

Love is all I fear

What if it will break me?

What if I will bow?

What if I won't survive once again?

Am I willing to let someone hurt me?

Am I willing to take the chance?

Am I Willing to return?

Struggling not to bow

Struggling not to fall inside the black

Trying to stay awake

I cannot feel anything

Am I even alive?
I know this is my time

Right now I will take a chance

I trust him

Dark has had a tight grip of me

Been taking my beatings for now

Slayed the zombies of the day

Last but not least;
I quieted my obsession

The need of glass

Became less and less.

A dark write my Poet friend. I like the description and the story in your poem. The poem got stronger and better with each line.
"Struggling not to bow
Struggling not to fall inside the black
Trying to stay awake"
Thank you for your excellent poem.

A release. Where it took place magically, we will come back to understand what took place someday. But not today. Today we enjoy the peace and freedom it confers.

We're presented with tough choices at times and you chronicle some of yours very well here. I like the ending; it gives a positive resolution to your poem. Thank you for sharing this.

The decisions between life and death are tricky because sometimes we don't even know what to trust more. That's the many questions that appear on here. I love the slow pacing flow on this poem and the indecision. Lovely, just lovely!
