Searching for the Reality

Searching for the Reality

A Poem by Anand Sehgal

Had I been able to free myself
from all the mundane ties I have
with this mortal world,
I would have cut all the
ephemeral strings ;
that exist in the form of
friendship- enmity,
love-hate,
cooperation-non-cooperation !!

I would have risen above  all the conflicts ,
and prevalent sensuality,
like a down feather of
a tender  nestling ,
riding on the restive wind.

I would have spent long hours,
looking at the thirsty globe
beneath ;
trying to understand the strength
of the word - 'Root' !!

I would have devoted a significant
effort, towards identifying
whether 'the root' is the only
hyper-real symbol,
awakened , yet soaked in surreal trance ;
lying in every segment  of the perceptible
universe !!

This poem is very thought-provoking and your play of words creates admirable imagery on how you are looking at things. I have observed that your poems often involves contemplation on reality and universal mysteries of time, life and death, and purpose. I love this poem. :)

Thanks so very much for the kind comments :) I am glad :)
Things put off and regretted that linger in your mind...wondering what if or when?
Would things be different if the past were different?
Speculation and obsession over it will not change it, so just move on and take this knowledge with you. Next time, use it and make the right choice.

Roots are a part of what make up our psyche but we need to expand our horizons to find out who and what we are really all about....

I would have risen above all the conflicts ,
and prevalent sensuality,
like a down feather of
a tender nestling ,
riding on the restive wind.

Love that stanza, nicely pen'd. Good work here.

thanks a lot. Glad that you liked the piece .
Perhaps recognizing that all members of humankind are only a half dozen or so removes away from each other would make the world a much more peaceful place. But how to convince people of this seems to be the issue. You have written a very thought-provoking poem, Anand. It really made me think and that is a very good thing!

thank you Atiba for kind comments :)
our roots are so important yet when we look at the intense conflict that surrounds our world sometimes our roots seem almost useless if everything is screwed up or being destroyed. even acknowledging this fact is a piece of knowledge that seems to tie you down. this piece was very introspective. great work!
