The Cycle

The Cycle

A Poem by Anand Sehgal

Expectation gives birth to selection,
Selection triggers a blind bias ,
Bias gives birth to opacity in sight,
Opacity begets doubts of all forms ,
Doubt leads to fragility ,
Fragility leads to destruction ,
Destruction leads to ashes ,
Ashes incubate the Phoenix,
The Phoenix ignites the expectation again.

very thought provoking. expectations sometimes brings disappointment with them. sometimes its just dependent to the fate and sometimes because of our actions. yet another expectation rises within us the moment the former dies...human nature!!

loved the way you have penned it. thanks for sharing.

Connections after connection, i wonder where cant we find the cycle of incidents all around us, i guess no where and that is very nicely described in your poem, Enjoyed reading !

true thing. thank you for kind comments :)
Each line is an introduction to the other, like one door opening to another that is closed. A sense of wonder resonates through this, for me.

Very impressive work!

Thanks a lot Ron, Glad that you liked this write :)
Expectations so often bring disappointment; we cannot control the human condition...

Doubt leads to fragility...

This line is the one that jumped out at me - doubt can make us weak. Best to be strong in what we can - and that is in our own self...
Fascinating write.

Brilliant as always. The cycle of expectation and destruction and then renewed expectation made a good read. Having no expectation in life would have saved us from the misery of expectations falling flat but then such a life would be too predictable, too dull.

Thanks for the in depth analysis Ma'am :)
I like where you are going with it this, a lot. The cycle that is romantic love. So often, I have thought of my heart as some kind of lesser Phoenix. This is a fabulous metaphor and the Phoenix is half bird so I yearn to see the metaphor at the beginning too. It's a cycle after all.
