Chapter Four

Hatred, Anger and bitterness filled Drina's heart when she found out that Sarah Jo won the tournament. She couldn't stand the fact that she got disqualified. Her family and almost everyone expects her to win. While in the locker room, her mean friends, Anja, who is a shape shifter and Penelope, who can multiply herself into six are helping her to think of a plan on how to bring Sarah Jo down

"Come on girls, we got to bring her down! Think of a plan" Drina Said

"I really hate her. Did you know that she kicked my face and I just got my facial yesterday? Ugh. Jeez" Penelope said

"Yeah Right, and have you seen what Dexter did after the match? They almost kissed. Ewww" Anja said

"My Newly polished nails agrees with what you said, Anja. Oh, when will I get my new facial?" Penelope said

"Enough of this Nonsense! I can't bear Hearing Penelope's voice six times than the original! Just think of a plan. ASAP" Drina Shouted

"Come on Drina, Don't be so mad, you're just adding wrinkles to your face. If you really want to bring her down, make them fight." Penelope said

"Fight? How could we possibly do that?" Drina said

"Make Sarah Jo the reason for Dexter and Seth to fight. That way, everyone would see her as a friendship breaker and it would ruin her reputation" Anja said

"Brilliant. That's why you two are my side kicks." Drina said

They laughed as if there's no tomorrow. Looked at the mirror and fixed their looks, they didn't realize that there was another girl listening to them.

Meanwhile, in the nurse's office, after all the participants got healed, Dexter and Seth stayed to talk.

"Why did you pull her to be on top of you?" Seth asked

"I want to see her pretty face closer to mine" Dexter said

"Are you in to her?" Seth asked

"Honestly, Yeah. She's what I'm looking for. She's smart, brave, and beautiful. I'd be the luckiest guy in the world if she'd be mine" Dexter said

"Well, good luck with that, just don't treat her like you treated the other girls" Seth said

Seth leaned on the wall and sighed. He couldn't imagine that his best friend, who is a well-known play boy, would plan to change for a girl.

As Sarah Jo opens the door of their house, the dim light gets brighter. There's a banner for her that says "Congratulations" Her mother and father hugged her tight and she noticed the bandage around her father's arm

"Thanks mom and dad, I really had a hard time in getting this medal." Sarah Jo said

"We're so proud of you. I remember when I won the Iron Fist, you're father and I was the last contenders standing, and I defeated him" Sarah said

"That's why I love your mother so much." Joseph said

Sarah Jo smiled because she remembered what happened in the Arena. Then her father handed her a gift. She opened it gently and it was a gun.

"You should have that with you, I do believe that you can protect yourself with that. We don't have super powers. The bullets of that gun are so special" Joseph said

"Thanks dad. I'll keep this on my knees. Just like what you're doing in times of emergency" Sarah Jo said

"You really are my daughter." Joseph said

She placed a band on her knees and placed that gun in there. She had a feeling that what she got right now would be used for the world's balance.

As days pass by, the training in The Rua Institute of Combat gets tougher and tougher. Every punch and kick they made is strictly watched by the facilitators. Even the smallest mistake could be seen. This is because of the crime rate increase, ever since the Gang FPM got captured, a lot of super natural syndicates appeared.

One Thursday afternoon, when everyone was dismissed, Sarah Jo stayed in one of the training room to try to fight the enemies with super powers. Although she doesn’t have powers, her fighting skills were so unbeatable; every enemy was left for dead. As the door of the training room opens, the hologram of the enemies and the battle place disappeared. Dexter was standing there with his hands on his pockets. He stared at her as she comes towards him.

“I was watching you through the cameras, and I’m very impressed. Now I know why you can’t be defeated” Dexter said

“I don’t possess any super powers. Drina can even squash me like a bug. How can you say that I can’t be defeated?” Sarah Jo said

“Look, it’s doesn’t mean that if you have super powers, you can save the world, sometimes it just makes you a jerk”

“Wait, so you don’t have any super powers?”

“Yeah. Did it come across your mind that I have one?”

“Well, yeah. What about Seth and Benjamin? Do they have any super powers?”

“Yes they do. Benjamin is a techno path. Seth has, but no one knows what it is. He doesn’t use it”

Sarah Jo sat on one of the bench of the hallway and took her brush to fix her hair. Dexter anxiously watched the bounce of her wavy reddish brown hair. He placed the palm of his hands on her head and gently run his fingers in her hair. For a moment, Sarah Jo stopped brushing and felt a tingly feeling on her body. She stood up and said goodbye to him, she didn’t want him to see her blushing.

As the sun sets in Mandrake City, the desperate eyes of the criminals are waiting for their prey. There is a girl walking on the dark alley, when suddenly, a gremlin creature attacked her. She screamed for help. Sarah Jo happens to be in the same street on her way home. She helped the girl, she pulled the gremlin creature and used her pepper spray to distract it, she told the girl to run away and hide. She faces the strange creature and strangled it to death with her belt. Then, a giant hairy creature with cigarettes appeared. It was a Kapre. She punched and kicked it but her enemy was so unaffected. She took her hair clip and threw it and it exploded, but the enemy is still alive.

“My Turn” The Kapre said

The giant hands of the Kapre punched Sarah Jo and she crashed in to a tree. She couldn’t stand up. The Kapre came near her and it was about to crush her like a bug when a masked man on fire intervened and attacked the kapre. He opened his fist and a huge fire ball manifested on his hand. He threw it to the Kapre and The Kapre burned to death. Sarah Jo was shocked with this mysterious man who saved her. She stood up and thanked him and asked him who he is. He didn’t say a word. He hit the ground with fire so that Sarah Jo can read what he is called and he ran away.

“Phoenix Fire. His name is Phoenix Fire” Sarah Jo said

Dexter was so worried, he couldn’t stop thinking of Sarah Jo. He has a feeling that something happened. He got out of his room, and went to her house as fast as he could. When Sarah Jo reached her house, her mother, Sarah asked her what happened. She told her that she fought a couple of supernatural creatures, and also about the guy on fire who saved her. Sarah hugged her daughter and told her not to go home late anymore. Joseph went down stairs to check on her daughter. He was also worried.

“Did you use you exploding hair clip? What about your belt?” Joseph said

“Yes Dad, I used them, and someone saved me” Sarah Jo said

“Who did? I must know his name to thank him”

“Phoenix Fire did, but I don’t know who’s behind that mask”

Joseph didn’t say anything. He made a poker face in front of her daughter. Someone knocked on their door, he came to open it, and it was Dexter. When he saw him, he felt something that was very special.

“Good Evening Mr. Stryker, is Sarah Jo in there? I just dropped by to check on her” Dexter said

“Yes, she’s here. What’s your name?” Joseph asked

“I’m Dexter. Dexter Scott”

“You must be Jane’s son. You look like her”

“Yes, I am. How did you know my mom?”

“Your father and I work together in EAGLES”

Joseph called Sarah Jo to entertain Dexter. She went out and she was surprised to him in her front door.

“I’ll just call you later for dinner.” Joseph said

He left them and entered the house; he helped Sarah prepare the dinner

“What brings you here in the middle of the night?” Sarah Jo said

“I got worried. What happened?” Dexter asked

“I saved a girl from a kapre and a gremlin creature and Phoenix Fire rescued me”

“I’m so happy you’re alright. I really don’t know what I’ll do if something bad happens to you”

“Oh. Dex. Why are you saying those things to me?”

“It’s because you’re a special friend to me”

Sarah Jo smiled at him and gave him a hug. Dexter cherished that moment. He wishes for it not to end. The stars in the sky get brighter as his feelings for her gets warmer.
