THE GENTLEMAN

THE GENTLEMAN

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

I AM BACK!!! a snapshot of the RIVER in all its magnificence!

"

THE GENTLEMAN

The Blue Danube waltzes its way

Through the heart of Germany

To the banks of the Black Sea

A dancer with a triple twirl

Bends and twists past granite and

Sandstone

Regal and dignified

Ancient rock carvings and etchings

Cling to its shores

The RIVER OF GOD according to myth

Colors transforms from Cerulean blue

To faded jeans

Its gentle glide mesmerizes the spirit

Settles the soul

A humming rhythm

As it rides the cadences

And folds under starlit nights

Bearing the sun’s reflection at high noon

The gentleman of waterways

A heritage of marvels

This piece of yours is absolutely enchanting. The imagery is so vivid, I just love poems associated with oceans and seas. And the way you have written it is just mesmerizing. And the place is just so pretty!

Such a beautiful and sincere truth, Betty. Your use of dancing movements and the river is wonderfully laid, uniting two kinDs of mood and drama! Seems your holiday has left so many memories. Perhaps there will be times ahead when a mention, movement, sound or colour will jump up yet again but bring your own expressive poem to mind!

Thanks for including the photo. It's easy to see why Mr. Strauss was inspired to write his great waltz.

This flows just as the mighty river does. Excellent visual descriptive piece more than a sum of its parts. And I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday.

This river is so beautiful, gentle and graceful. I love the way you described the sun as a gentleman. Dear Betty, I'm so inspired by this poem. Its such an amazing description of a great river.

"A dancer with a triple twirl"~ I adored that line!

The picture you paint with your words is a more memorable tribute to the river than a thousand paintings! So happy to know you're back and we can look forward to reading your lovely poetry!
