Forever Shattered

Forever Shattered

A Poem by Chris Lotus
"

Poem about struggling to fix a "love" that just can't be repaired.

"
The chain that once connected us
The one you shattered
With a heartbreaking hammer
Still remains with me....
.....in pieces

Ive tried for long years
To place them back together
I made it my utmost duty
Wouldnt eat nor sleep
I've failed miserably

I only know of how to merge
A section of the shards
I figured perhaps you would know
The secret to merge the others

I ask you whole-heartedly
You refused heartlessly
And descended into the shadows

I'm standing with a half of the chain
In lament, I drop it on the ground
And crush it under my foot

Beautiful! I loved it!

They shattered the chain between you (heart/love) but the pieces stayed with you, you tried forever to put the pieces back together, doing nothing but that but no matter how hard you tried you always failed.

You only knew how to put some of the pieces back together and hoped the other person knew how to piece the rest of it together but when you asked they refused and left you alone.

Now you're left standing with half of the chain and grieving perhaps over what you had or what might have been, feed up you drop it and crush it to rid yourself of the pieces that are left.

It's an amazing write and I loved how you used your words. Keep it up! :)

I love the image you painted with this one. I could see the person standing there holding this broken chain so miserably. Trying hard to put it together but they didn't have all the pieces and the person who could help wouldn't. I also like the fact that you said you crushed the chain under your foot. To me that means that you're fed up, you quit trying... but crushing something under your foot leaves broken shards or dust or some type of residue behind... Its different from, say, throwing it into the sea where you can't see or feel it anymore. I appreciated that aspect of it. Nicely written. I can definitely relate.
